Raised SM technology (SMT) socket
The raised SMT socket is built on top of the surrounding components on the circuit board and has the same footprint as your chip. The socket is simply placed on the circuit board in the same way as the chip and soldered, requiring only a small amount of space on the board. SMT sockets are available with all mounting systems. For raised SMT sockets, E-tec generally recommends the use of centring pins, which can be soldered to the circuit board to increase mechanical strength.
